I was asleep when the phone rang and my fiance was yelling at me to turn on the TV. He said that the World Trade Center was on fire and had been bombed. I immediately turned on the TV to find that they were shutting down all flights and that the building had been crashed into by a plane. I immediately called my parents because they were supposed to be on a flight out of Phoenix to New York about an hour after the first plane hit. I told them that all flights had been stopped and we watched TV together while still on the phone in silence as the events of September 11, 2001 continued to unfold.

My husband and I along with our daughter, were at a Funeral for a fine young man, who was killed in a freak Motorcycle accident, just days before. The unique thing about this Young man,Danny Stark was his name, is Danny was a very, PROUD MARINE....At his funeral, was a full HONOR GUARD. They were standing outside of the Funeral Home when the Commander got a phone call and he went to the van carrying the Honor Guard, they stood there listening to a radio and we heard what had happened at the WTC, word of what happened traveled fast through the funeral guests and EVERYONE was stunned, and shocked. We all listened to it on our radios and couldn't believe what we were hearing, alot of us were thinking, on this horrible day, we are here burying ONE OF AMERICA'S FINEST. As young as he was, he was a decorated Soldier, and he would have been there to Protect us in a Heart Beat.

September 11, 2001 was supposed to be a very relaxing day for me. The night before i had no homework so i went to bed extra early. I had a good night sleep so i was very awake. At school, it was 4th period when i had found out about the WTC. I had just come from 3rd period which was my Italian class. My whole class was split up between italian and spanish classes. During 4th period, a guy in my class rasied his hand and told the teacher " is it true dat a plane hit the twin towers?" Nobody in the class made a reaction to this because we thought he was kidding. The teacher just looked at him in a mean way and said... "You shouldn't be joking around like that... why would u even say a stupid thing like that??" He said that his spanish teacher told him. Everyone just started laughing and he said "i knew she was leing." Then we began doin our work and during 5th and 6th period a lot of the parents from the students were comin to pick them up. Everyone was confused as to why they were all gettin pikked up but they all thought it was because of the voting that was going on in
our school. By the end of 6th period everyone was sure of what happened but we still had mixxed feelings. I didnt think it was a terrorist attack. I thought that a plane crashed into it by mistake. When i got to 7th period class my teacher said that we will always rember this day for as long as we live... it was never made clear to us of what had happened. When i got home at around 3, I got in the house to see my mom and my dad in front of the tv screen. I heard all these newscasters talk about the twin towers. I came in smiling and I told my mom "did u hear bout the stupid plane that crashed in the twin towers?" and she said "what are you talkin about.. it wasn't stupid.. it was terrorists"... at that i got confused. I didnt know what to think. I was speechless. I just ran to the tv and listened and all they showed were the planes crashing into the towers over and over again. They kept showing those clips and i kept gettin the chills up my spine everytime they showed it. I couldn't belive what had happened.

On September 11, 2001 I was attending School of Discovery in Selma, Alabama. That day started off as usual.
On the radio I had heard that President Bush was in Florida (It had something to do with education). I got ready for school and left home. Once I got to school, roll and morning procedures were done like all other school days.
I asked my homeroom if I could check out books from the library. When I got to the library horror was already on the news. A commercial aircraft had deliberately rammed into a tower in New York City the building was in gulped in flames. I was very confused,I had never even heard of the World Trade Centers.
That day was the same day that I started sixth grade enrichment. Our class gathered the t.v was already on. Soon after we started watching a second
plane smashed into the second tower. This was like nothing I had ever seen not even in movies but, it was still as if I was watching an action packed movie. Now both buildings were flaming. Then suddenly I saw with my own eyes the first attacked tower collapse, just give way like air destroys a card pyramid. Then unbelievibily the last tower collasped leaving us breathless.

On the day of September 11th, I was eating breakfast on my bed when all of this bad news came down. It is just so hard to comprehend that I was sitting there enjoying my food without knowing that thousands of innocent civilians were being killed at the World Trade Center. After that, I still did not know about it for I was getting ready for school. It wasnt until I got in my car to drive to school that I realized what has happened. I turned on my favorite morning talk radio (Mark and Brian in the morning), and they had an unusually suttle voice, when they usually are cracking jokes about random things. I immediately knew then that something was wrong. I continued listening and eventually found out what had happened. I was terrified... I had to pull over to listen and try to process what exactly happened. When I got to school, every teacher had their TV on CNN. I didn't know HOW bad it was until I saw the video on the TV. To me this felt very surreal, and confusing... which is probably what everyone else was going through.
I wish I could have been there, to help the innocent... but no, I was sitting down eating my breakfast, not knowing what has happened. After that day I felt terrified to go outside for the next few weeks. Those people that died went to the WTC just like if it was an average day at work. What if that happened to us?? We don't expect anything like that. What if???

I am sorry for all of the families who lost a loved one during this tragic event, I wish I could help more, but I can't, and for that, I am sorry.
