On the morning of September 11th I was teaching in an American School in Nicaragua. I remember being told that a plane had hit the twin towers and that I should go to the library and watch the news. By the time I arrived there were tv's on in both Spanish and English and images of burning buildings. I stood there, unable to move in disbelief.
Being overseas when this terrible event occured, on my birthday, aforded me the oportunity to see first-hand the international outpooring of support for the United States. As a nation, we are often criticised for our international policy, but on this day the civilized world was standing with us and holding our hand. This knowledge gave me an unexplainable comfort. Thank you, to everyone around the world who cried with me.

I'm only 13, but the Sept. 11th Attacks have affected me greatly. I can, and always will, remember where I was when I first heard about the attacks. I was in English class, and I was in the first row, seat closest to the loudspeaker. I can never write down the terror and anger that I felt when I heard that message. I was very afraid for my father's life, because he works up in D.C., just one block from Capital Hill. Therefore, I almost fell over crying that me Dad might die. Though, who am I to say that I was afraid, when people were being killed by those bloody Muslims. After the attacks, our school had a prayer service begging God to help us. I was chosen as one of the readers, and I had an almost impossible time reading all of my part. Though, I still did it. These evil men were bad, but they brought the country together as one. In conclusion, I will NEVER forget where I was the day of Sept. 11th. "So my follow Americans I say to you, let's roll". (George W. Bush, and the brave men on the flight 93.)

There was an all-school assembly -- called our Who's Who assembly going on. It recognizes excellences in high school students. We had just seen a motivational speaker who had come from the mean streets of Brooklyn, NY, and he had inspiried many, and put others to sleep. How unfortunate that as we look back on that day, I don't have any recollection of what he said. Mr. Pritz, the principal of Marietta HS in Georgia, came on and told the students that the speaker had discussed choices -- but that sometimes things happen that we have no direct control of. He said to the 1700 students, "Something has happened. Sometimes people do things that we just can't control." I remember thinking, "Oh no, there's been another school shooting." It was much worse. He told us that an airplane had slammed into the WTC, and that terrorism was certainly presumed. He handled it with such class, and leadership, that I remember thinking about how impressed I was with him at that moment. The rest of the day, I had my radio on in my office, and listened to the rest of the day's events with students crammed in there with me. I helped them to cope with the shock. What Hell we have seen.

It was 8:00 AM and I just woke up. I live in Hawaii so there was a 6-hour time difference so it was around 2:00 PM EST. I turned on the television and every station had coverage of the WTC attacks. When I saw the first tower go down I was speechless. It was the most horrible thing I’ve seen. Then the second one came down. I watched the coverage for about 2 hours then I finally had to get ready for class. I had a test that day but it was hard to focus on anything but the WTC attacks. When I got to the school library, the big screen television there also had coverage of the WTC attacks. Everyone was standing around to see what happened. I heard that President Bush was going to give a speech about what happened but I had class at that time. I rushed to finish the test and hurried back to the library. I got to see a replay of the speech. The only thing I remember him saying was God Bless America. At that moment I never felt prouder to be an American.

I was on holiday in Florida with my Girlfriend Claire, and another couple, it was our second week. We were up early that morning as we had been most mornings, Off to another fun park. We left at around 8am to drive from Orlando to Buch Gardens in Tampa. We had the radio on in the car when we heard the terrible news that a plane had struck one of the WTC towers. Like everyone at that time we thought it was just a terrible accident, little did we know what was to come. By the time we had arrived the second plane had hit and reports were coming in of hijackings. On parking the car we met up with the couple we were traveling with, my lifelong friend Rod and his partner Julie. We stood by his car with at least Ten other people listening to President Bush's speech over the radio. For me the realisation of what was happening in New York was enormous. I have been to America many times in my life and only 2 years previous had stood at the top of the WTC looking out across a clear and sunny New York City in November.
The memory that sticks in my mind apart from those terrible images, is trying to explain to Claire and my friends just how Big and Tall the WTC towers were, none of them had ever been to New York.
We had been in the park for Two hours when it was closed on saftey grounds, we had been on one ride which none of us enjoyed as our minds were elsewhere.
I will NEVER forget September 11 2001
