When it was first mentioned, I was in first period Language Arts. One of the janitors walked in, and told the teacher what happened. It seemed like nothing at first, and my teacher had said 'What a tragedy'.

When we went into second period social studies, the teacher was on the internet and mentioned what happened and we were all like '...' because we were in New York City earlier in the year and we had gone to the top of the World Trade Center.

So, most of us were really freaked out. 'What if it happened while we on the top?' And then, the teacher in the room beside us had the television going. Our teacher didn't permit us to go into the science room and watch.

Then my mom dismissed me out of worry and I watched what happened at home.

Up in the Clouds
Katherine Dias
9-11-02

I, like the rest of the United States, was in shock one year ago on September 11th. There was just one thing different about me and the rest of our Country, I had no clue what a World Trade Center was, or what it did. So, when my mom told me, I was just like “Oh, ok well that’s alright, didn’t you say there was another one?”. I was like up in the clouds, in my own little “Katherine World” and not having a care in the world. And then this happened and i soon came back to Earth. I went to school that morning just kind of weirded out because I knew that whatever was happening was not good. Then during my first period class, we were watching the CNN coverage on it, I learned that the other tower was hit, and then they both collapsed. So now I’m not just ‘Weirded out’ I’m like totally freaked out and I was like “Oh my gosh, is it the end of the world??????”. Well, after being consoled by friends and my family I felt much better knowing that the world was not ending, and that I was going to be OK.
I am soooooo thankful to say that no one that I knew was in either of the Twin Towers. I feel very sad and just like...oh I can’t really explain it, so I guess I will just say that I feel sad, for the families who lost loved ones in the destruction of the Twin Towers. I am not patriotic, although I still feel...once again I have that silly loss of words so I will say upset here :) . I am proud to be an American, and I love my country, but I just don’t feel right dressing all in red white and blue, because well I wasn’t really patriotic before the 11th, and I’m not so much now.
In summary, I now know what a World Trade Center was, and I’m kind of upset that I didn’t know that before they were destroyed. I really hope that whoever did this to our country, and whoever is harboring them, will suffer, and go through what this big fat country had to go through. I still try to remember to pray for those who did, or may be still be grieving over lost friends or family. May God bless the heroes who lost their lives for someone else, may He bless those who had friends or family who died, and may He bless our country. Rock on America.

On September 11th 2001 I remember that i went to school like any ordinary day. Actually it was a beautiful morning... then i got to miss math... my least favorite subject because we had an assembly about an upcomming fundraiser. When we went back to classes we were only there for about 5 minnutes and then the phone rang in the room. my teacher answered it and told me to get all my stuff and go to the office... so I did... and when i walked in i saw my dad. Well my grandpop recently had surgery on his arm so i thought he did something to his arm and made it worse. but then in walked my cousin who we were taking care of because her mom was in the hospital. my dad signed us out and we ran to the car. Vicky and I were just like wheere are we going? we kept asking my dad what was wrong and he just kept saying ill tell you when we get home. So then we went to the high school right next to the middle school to pick up my brother... by this point i was REALLY worried. we went home then and we all went to the living room where my dad still had on the TV. then he told us... guys the world trade centers were just hit by 3 plans and they collapsed. me being an ignorant 7th grader was like ... WTC? whats that? my cousin and i were puzzled then my dad said the twin towers and i burst out into tears i was sooo worried. I am still trying toget over that. OI still remembe that day as if it were yesterday and i dont think i will ever forget it... GOD BLESS AMERICA!

On September 11, 2001 I was getting ready to go to school. It was my 8th grade year. I watched the news every morning, and they were live talking with someone only a little bit away from the twin towers. She was talking bout how she felt when she saw the first crash. All of a sudden, she started screaming, and finally the word was given that a second crash had taken place. I ran to my parents room and told them what had happened, and they told me to finish getting ready for school. When I got to school, we sat there the whole day, watching tv and talking bout our feelings. We were scared all day, and our lives have never been the same.
