When the terrorist attacks took place, I was at work. I heard the awful news from my co-worker. I was totally stunned and in shock. I was also very, very upset. I felt numb, didn't know what to think. A good friend of mine goes to school in New York. All I could think was, 'Is he OK?' I also wanted to understand more about what had happened. I was so worried about him when I heard the news. I also thought, 'The World Trade Center has been attacked AGAIN?', referring to the 1993 bombing. I could not believe what I was hearing. The whole thing was just such a nightmare, I wondered if I was dreaming. Then I realized that I wasn't. This had really happened. I had so many emotions in me at that time.

I was getting ready for work. My boyfriend just left for work and I turned on the TV. I saw that they were reporting a plane hit the wtc. I watched and reported to my friend ( who was online ) what had happened. Then I saw the second plane hit the wtc. I about fell to my knees thinking about what all this meant. All I though was , "Oh my God, all those people". I continued to watch then I saw the first tower fall. I cried, I felt so helpless, all those people, dead. Then the second tower, gone! This topped with what happened with the petagon and the plane crash that day really effected me. God Bless all those people!

I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard the news about the WTC attacks. I was out in my car driving between two of the sites where I work in Hinckley, which is in Leicestershire, Great Britain. I had the Radio on Radio 1 and a couple of DJ’s called “Mark and Lard” were on. They are normally some of the funniest and weirdest DJ’s you’ll ever hear but all of a sudden their tone completely changed and they said the words I’ll never forget, “we’ve just heard that terrorists have flown 2 planes into the World Trade Centre in New York City and one of the towers has collapsed….” It went quiet and I got a chill all over me at the thought of what was happening/
I raced back to work quickly texting my girlfriend on my mobile to tell her to find a radio to listen to what was happening in America. As soon as I got back in the office I knew it was bad as everyone had stopped working and was huddled around radios, pocket TV’s and other peoples desks as they were trying desperately to get on to news websites to find out more on the situation.
When we then heard that another plane had crashed into the Pentagon and more planes were on the way we all fell into a state of shock thinking the worst, that this could be the start of a new war. I know it might seem silly now but I’m not afraid to admit it but after that I got straight on the phone to my girlfriend to tell her that I loved her.

Once I got home and saw the video footage of what had happened in New York I so nearly broke down into tears. The feeling of seeing the 2nd plane coming out of the sky and fly straight into the 2nd tower, seeing people fleeing in utter terror as a mass of rubble falls from the sky, and most of all seeing people leaping to their deaths from one of the worlds most poignant landmarks is something I never want to feel again.

My thoughts and prayers are still with everyone who witnessed or was involved with this terrible tragedy.

Everything else seems kind of pointless with things like that going on doesn’t it…

I was in class when it happened, biol 364, or cell physiologly to be exact. My cell phjone was on but set on silent and i could see my that my friend was calling me. I thought it was weird that he would call me this early in the morning but ignored the call. After class i called to hear what he wanted. Thats when he hit me with the news. I told a friend nearby what was happening but she thought nothing of it...its just an accident, she said. Meanwhile, I was on the hunt for a tv. Finally, on the 11th floor, on a small black and white screen, i saw for the first time what was happening. That's when the first tower fell. Then minutes later, the second one fell..

I was student teaching in Williamsville, NY - a suburb of Buffalo. September 11 happened to be the first day I was attempting to teach a class. Before my first encounter with the students as their teacher, I was informed of the attacks, and warned to not discuss them until official notice had taken place.

In the middle of my lecture, the principal informed the high school students - drastically affecting their lives, and mine.
